Whoosh
Whoosh is our new superfast delivery service. It means shoppers can order essentials from their local Tesco Express store and get them delivered within an hour, by our delivery partner Stuart. There’s a charge of just £5 and a minimum spend of £15, and shoppers can choose from the full range at their local store, up to 20 items.
GetGo
Our leading-edge technology means that customers with the Tesco.com app will be able to check-in to our store, pick up the groceries they need and walk straight out again without visiting a checkout. A combination of cameras and weight-sensors will establish what customers have picked up and charge them for products directly through the app when they leave the store. Tesco has partnered Trigo for the launch of this store.
Tesco Labs
Tesco has a proud track record of innovation and has dedicated teams to ensure we continue to focus in this area. Tesco Labs is the research and development team within Tesco Technology where we bring to life exciting concepts, like GetGo– our checkout free concept store, or Whoosh, our superfast delivery service. Our projects are typically ‘new to world’ or ‘new to retail’. We work across the Innovation Horizons, from nearer term opportunities to testing hypothesis in experimental, breakthrough
Hive & Bumblebee
We’ve built two APIs called Hive and Bumblebee to help our home shopping vans and HGVs make deliveries in a way that’s kinder to the planet. Our colleagues use these smart systems to plan shorter, greener and more efficient routes, based on the size of customers’ baskets. They even direct HGVs away from schools, keeping communities safer.
