About the role

The Software Asset Management (SAM) Analyst will report to the Head of Software Asset Management. They will oversee all activities that optimize the value, cost and risk of software asset lifecycle while aligning to the business strategic requirements. The SAM Manager will monitor software agreements and renewal requirements assigned to the role to ensure the firm remains compliant while also driving efficiencies through license optimisation. The role will also be responsible for ensuring that activities to drive such optimisation and compliance are followed through by the required by date.

You will be responsible for

The SAM Analyst will be responsible for the management and oversight of the Software Asset estate. This entails ensuring compliance with licencing terms and entitlement through interaction with stakeholders within IT, the wider business and relevant 3rd parties.

 

The role will also be responsible for ensuring that activities to drive such optimisation and compliance are followed through and communicated appropriately.

 

Role requirements

- Managing the Software Usage policy and procedures to ensure they are up to date, fit for purpose and available across the group to the wider IT community.

- Managing software entitlement ensuring all inventories and changes are managed robustly and in compliance with licencing terms and policies at all times.

- Implementing and promoting rigorous governance throughout software lifecycle.

- Identifying opportunities to drive value and improve the performance of the existing and potential software base, seeking ways to drive innovation in processes, reduce costs through decommissioning unused software, reduce risks, improve performance and stimulate competition between qualified suppliers.

- Embedding a formal software asset management framework for all relevant software across the estate.

- Hands-on experience in producing Exec and operational level dashboard and reporting

- Experienced in leading external software compliance audits for Tier 1 and Tier 2 software suppliers, with successful outcomes for

- Strong Effective Licencing Position (ELP) knowledge on the common Tier 1 software products (e.g., Microsoft, IBM, Oracle Adobe)

- Strong knowledge in budget and cost management

- Knowledge of Procurement and supplier commercial principles

- Understanding of Cloud service-based consumption models (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS etc)

- Professional certification related to Software Asset Management (e.g., IAITAM, CSAM or equivalent, Microsoft MCP), plus ITIL V3 desirable

You will need

- Ability to lead the software entitlement processes including reporting.

- Can continuously develop and embed the Software Asset Management capabilities, processes and reporting across the organisation.

- Has a great understanding of licensing and deployment models.

- Be able to demonstrate knowledge of techniques to optimise licensing and deployment in order to deliver savings

- Understanding of supplier governance and its implications for Software Asset Management.

- Knowledge and understanding of vendor audit and compliance strategies and processes in order to efficiently manage enquiries and engagements Business and IT Strategy

- At least 5 years of relevant experience in a SAM related roles roles
