The Product Analytics and Experimentation team sits within the Data & Analytics directorate in the Technology department. Our mission is to deliver insightful and actionable data through reporting, analysis, and experimentation; with a focus on establishing best-practice processes and enabling data-driven decision making across all supported product teams. You will be responsible for

As the Digital Analytics Manager for myProduct, you will lead a digital analytics team supporting the digital product teams responsible for the myProduct product suite. myProduct is primarily a trading platform enabling Tesco buyers and suppliers to collaborate to bring the right products to our customers, at the right time and place, at the right price. Ensuring our customers can trust each product has been sourced and developed ethically and quality is assured. This role reports into the Head of Product Analytics & Experimentation, and it is part of the Product Analytics & Experimentation leadership team.

Whilst specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the Tesco business, the following provides an overview of the role’s key responsibilities and measures:

  • Owning relationships with digital product teams, helping them define objectives and key results, analysing product releases, defining, and validating hypothesis, and making product recommendations.
  • Supporting senior governance forums which monitor performance against objectives.
  • Growing the analytics maturity of the team to deliver cutting edge analytical capabilities.
  • Coordinating the application of analysis, design, and modelling techniques to establish, modify or maintain data structures and their associated components.
  • Leading by example and demonstrating to others the importance of data security and data quality and the need to ensure these are factored into design from the outset.
  • Providing advice and guidance to others, using the data structures and associated components, on how to define and build metrics and hierarchies to support decision-making.
  • Advising on the appropriate use of data visualisation for different purposes and contexts to satisfy requirements.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to enable the organisation to get maximum value from its data assets.
  • Tailoring and framing communications to meet the needs of the audience.
  • Building and developing a team and organising them to deliver maximum value.
  • Influencing the strategic vision set by senior management.
  • Demonstrating great prioritisation skills and decision-making skills in allocating resources to business priorities.
  • Nurturing talent, promoting a culture of learning and development, and enabling inspiring career progression plans.
  • Being always inclusive, ensuring everyone feels welcome and can be themselves at work without fear of judgement.

You will need

You will need to have demonstrated experience of:

  • University degree of 2:1 or higher in a quantitative discipline or relevant experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – you must be able to articulate complex concepts to a diverse audience.
  • Either managerial positions in analytics or significant coaching experience.
  • Able to build solid working relationships with peers and senior leadership.
  • Working effectively with multi-disciplinary teams and understanding how to contribute to all phases of the product development lifecycle.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Managing change in a dynamic environment.
  • Advanced digital analytics.
  • Advanced SQL.
  • Advanced data architecture.
  • Advanced data visualisation.
  • Use of Voice of Customer tools to analyse customer feedback.
  • Strong collaboration with experimentation teams.
  • Customer segmentation and statistical modelling techniques.
  • Thinking at a conceptual level across several platforms and channels.
