About the role

The role will be to create profitable customer driven ranges and promotions to deliver sales and margin targets. You will develop a plan that supports the delivery of the customer plan and promises of ‘I can get what I want’ and ‘the prices are good’.

You will be responsible for

  • Deliver financial targets, accurate sales and profit budgets for the area
  • Overseeing the selling plan ensuring there is supplier strategy to meet the  category function plan
  • Leading & supporting the team, meeting regularly with our supply base
  • Creating ranges which are customer focused & simple for stores through category reset
  • Collaborating with Tesco to closer align our supply base & ranges, & harmonise costs & terms on all common lines
  • Reviewing & responding to weekly trading results and competitor actions, ensuring price is competitive & profitable
  • Delivering the company trade and events plan with market leading, customer insight driven promotions and events in line with Magnetic Value principles
  • Forecasting and managing budgets effectively, always being cost conscious
  • Adhering to all Tesco policies & GSCOP
  • Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence
  • Managing & coordinating ad-hoc cross functional projects.

Experience:

  • Commercial buying experience
  • Category management
  • Experience of balancing priorities in a fast paced, constantly changing environment to meet tight  deadlines.
  • Strong communicator and ability to build effective relationships.
  • Experience of working cross functionally and influencing at a high level across a business.
