Tesco Business Services & Technology (TBST) was established in Budapest in 2019, supporting the Tesco retail business in Central Europe and the Tesco Group. TBST is part of our global business services and technology organisations within Tesco.

In Budapest, our Technology hub currently employs near 200 – and growing number – of highly trained software engineers and product managers who are implementing global software development projects across fulfilment, pricing, supplier management, online and in-store loss prevention, and our online grocery sites.

Currently, at Tesco Technology we work in a hybrid model. We love working from home, but we also love connecting, collaborating, and innovating with our colleagues in person. We meet in our office in Budapest for 3 days a week.

Job Description

As a member of the Programme Family, you will engage with our colleagues in other business functions, Product Managers, Enterprise Architects and Engineering leads to help define and deliver the vision. We do this through gathering requirements, achieving approval for financial investment- to deliver a complex cross-functional programme to achieve value for Tesco.

Technical Programme Managers deliver complex, cross-functional technology programmes that support colleagues and help serve our customers better.

What will you do?

  • Deliver programmes with business and/or technical risks
  • Optimise or use a standard programme delivery methodology for delivering programme goals
  • Create and track a plan to deliver the programme goals, including the technical implementation plan
  • Understand trade-offs and resulting impacts; make impacts visible to Product, Infrastructure or Engineering for the right decision to be made
  • Manage dependencies, delivery timelines and implementations plans, using the knowledge or technical architecture
  • Appreciate and respond to delivery challenges, using the knowledge of engineering best practices and/or infrastructure implementations
  • Effectively manage major incidents, ensuring stakeholders are updated with the right information to drive the correct decisions
  • Collaborate with the Product and Engineering teams to define annual budgetary requirements

Qualifications

Your background

  • You are an experienced Project Manager/min. 2+ years of experience as a Program Manager
  • You are an enthusiastic, self-starter person who can take initiative and likes challanges
  • Experience in payments is a plus
  • Have a proven record of accomplishment in delivering technology and/or infrastructure; having done so across multiple teams in multiple geographies
  • Experience of building credible relationships and influencing management and leadership teams
  • Past experience of working with API development or management, related tools and technologies
  • Experience of working in large programme liaising with multiple technology and product teams to manage dependencies
