Current Role: Product Manager
Say hello to Ágnes, a Product Manager at Tesco Technology, where she’s responsible for making the returns and refunds experience as smooth as possible. If you’ve ever bought something from Tesco online and needed to return it, Ágnes’ work ensures that the process is seamless. Right now, her team is focused on improving the marketplace return journey, so whether a customer loves their product but needs to send it back, Tesco helps them do just that—with ease and transparency.
For Ágnes, working in this space isn’t just about problem-solving; it’s about making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
“I love the impact we can have. Knowing that millions of customers use our product motivates me every day. It’s not just about fixing a return, it’s about enhancing the entire experience so people trust Tesco for every step of their shopping journey.
But my career didn’t start in product management. I studied software engineering at university, and while I learned a lot, I felt like something was missing. The work seemed too focused on coding, without much human interaction or business thinking. I wanted to apply my tech knowledge in a way that was more people-centric and connected to bigger processes. That curiosity led me to start out as a Business Analyst, using my tech background while gaining a deeper understanding of customer journeys and business goals. That’s why product management appealed to me—it’s the perfect balance of technology, business strategy, and understanding user needs.
When it came time to make my next career move, a trusted friend recommended Tesco, praising the company’s high standards and collaborative culture. I worked with this friend before, so when they said the expertise here was top-notch, I believed them, as I love being in an environment where everyone is motivated and takes their work seriously. It’s the kind of place where we can all grow together.
And grow she has. Ágnes is part of Tesco’s "Orders and Returns" team, where she collaborates with other product managers on big projects that impact millions.
"For me, Tesco’s global reach and collaborative culture are game-changers. Despite how big the company is, whenever I have a question, I always get the support I need."
We’re working on making online grocery shopping and delivery more transparent. For example, when customers order through the Tesco website or app, they can track every step—from preparation to delivery—and we ensure communication is clear through notifications and emails. But one of the most exciting challenges? Returns. Tesco UK now partners with a variety of sellers, meaning you can buy everything from groceries to gadgets. And when customers want to return something, we’ve built an entire system to support that process online. It’s still relatively new, but we’re making it better every day.
Working on an international team has been a highlight. With colleagues from six different countries, I’m constantly learning how customers behave in different regions. It’s fascinating! In my previous role, I focused on Central Europe, where local needs really shaped our approach. Here, I get to see how we adapt across various markets, from handling language differences to navigating local regulations.
For me, Tesco’s global reach and collaborative culture are game-changers. Despite how big the company is, whenever I have a question, I always get the support I need. It’s so open-minded and helpful, and that made my onboarding experience really smooth.
"What really excites me about product management at Tesco is the opportunity to create solutions that impact millions."
