We now have a phenomenal opportunity for a Head of Global Sourcing within our Distribution & Fulfilment Procurement function to join a successful team here at Tesco!

This is an exciting opportunity to lead Procurement for the largest logistics and distribution network in the UK!

You'll be leading all aspects of the procurement of products and services in support of Tesco's Distribution and Fulfilment operations, by working closely with business partners to identify opportunities to deliver the required products and services at the best commercial value.

This role will require strong procurement expertise, with a background in leading GSNFR categories preferable. You will be working with senior customers within the business to create, build, and develop category plans in line with Tesco’s key objectives.

You will be responsible for

  • The end-to-end sourcing of circa £1.2Bn of supplier spend across all areas of Distribution and Fulfilment.
  • Working in close partnership with our leadership teams in the UK, Central Europe and Ireland.
  • Delivering key strategic sourcing projects involving 3rd party logistic providers across road and rail transportation, international freight, logistics and warehousing services.
  • Managing a team of approximately 10 colleagues across all related spend categories.
  • Leading and handling the creation of RFIs/RFPs all through to conclusion, with specific attention on ensuring open and fair completion through the process.
  • Partnering with the procurement points of reference with our Supply Chain and Distribution leadership team and other senior customers across the business.
  • Representing Tesco at senior level with the supplier and industry community to ensure Tesco's best interest and influence with key suppliers, trade bodies and other entities.
  • Responsible for defining specific category strategies to ensure accurate sourcing plans in the short to long-term.
  • Responsible for the delivery of cost savings plans across Distribution and Fulfilment supplier spend (Save to Invest) that requires diligent and careful planning and skilful execution.
  • Defining talent pipelines, development plans, leading compliance related topics and defining governance frameworks.

You will need

  • Experience in procurement and strategic sourcing, specifically within Supply Chain, Logistics and Transportation.
  • Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) qualifications preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge within the procurement logistics and supply chain market.
  • Previous experience of developing and growing a range of relationships across the transportation and logistics industry, both in the UK and globally, to engage with suppliers at a senior and executive level.

  • The ability to empower all levels of customers by virtue of an eye for business, excellent judgement, professional competence, credibility, flexibility, and personal integrity.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to encourage trust and confidence.
  • Shown success in leading, organising, multiple and ambitious tasks and priorities.
  • Strong commercial negotiations skills.
