We are recruiting a Lead Project Manager to work within Business Support to manage and align streams of work for channels, ensuring we always serve customers, communities and the planet a little better everyday. You will be agile in your approach, working across different areas of our Business Support operations to ensure plans are aligned in support of the Service Delivery Model and our strategic goals/drivers and partner with stakeholders across Tesco, working with others to deliver objectives, manage dependencies and deliver measurable improvements. 

You will be responsible for

  • Leading the Project Managers within the Transformation team to ensure Tesco project management principles are followed including stakeholder management, set up/organisation of the project, budget set up/controlled with cost savings delivered and communicating with/motivating natural work team members
  • Ensuring clear definition of the project and scope from the start, ensuring the project always remains on track and in scope and each Project Manager manages and delivers a tangible set of results
  • Allocating resource and engaging with relevant subject matter experts, leading and motivating the Project Managers to deliver the end to end requirements of the project/programmes of work
  • Managing risks and issues with the Project Managers, setting up and leading a clear governance programme for all projects
  • Ensuring the delivery of good quality change management processes to ensure longevity and sustainability of the project being delivered
  • Being accountable to deliver the save to invest plan
  • Ensuring the team budget accordingly and forecast as accurately as possible highlighting any financial risks when the occur in a timely manner
  • Managing interdependencies and any potential conflicts and monitoring progress of delivery and updating stakeholders including business leaders on the deliverables
  • Achieving great results by inspiring, engaging and leading others; you make our customers and colleagues feel value
  • Taking ownership of processes and systems, making sure they are effective and efficient; you spot issues and swiftly find the best simplest solutions
  • Be flexible and able to manage various projects and programmes of work across different areas within Business Support, improving different parts of the shopping trip for customers or simplifying our operations with new initiatives
  • Supporting closing projects down once complete and ensuring a post implementation review, to understand the lessons learned, sharing these with stakeholders and ensuring continuous improvements on ‘the what’ and ‘the how’ is in place
  • Setting clear objectives and reviewing the teams performance through 1:1 meetings, Inspiring Great Performance Every Day and everyday conversations
  • Following our business code of conduct and always acting with integrity/due diligence

You will need

  • Retail operations experience
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Financial awareness
  • Prioritisation skills
  • Microsoft Office
  • Line management experience ideal but not essential
