As the Product Manager for DDS, you will be a member of the Client Platform team whose mission is to accelerate time-to-market and maintain stability for our consumers, by reducing complexity and providing scalable, effective products.

Tesco is currently investing in the rollout of its Digital Design System (DDS) across front-end channels across Tesco Group. The DDS contains component libraries for Web and Native systems which can be reused by front-end experience teams to deliver quality, consistent customer and colleague experiences.

You will help to define and deliver the product vision & strategy for the Digital Design System. Partnering with business stakeholders to set the future direction as part of the wider business strategy.

You will be responsible for the adoption of the DDS for web design and engineering teams across Tesco Group, as well as being a champion for best practice development. You will own and manage the backlog for product delivery.

You will work with the business teams to understand customer needs and translate them into product requirements. You will co-ordinate with your engineering team to prioritise initiatives and plan business and platform features, thereby iteratively improving both the functionality and usability of your product, setting up for success.

Emphasis will be on the complete systems lifecycle, from establishing a practice that spans design, build, release, document, and analyse. Taking a systems-mindset to build and integrate consistent, efficient components across the Tesco product portfolio (Shopping and beyond).  

You will be responsible for

  • Proactively partner with peers and senior stakeholders to evolve the future direction of the DDS as part of the wider business strategy.
  • Protect the long-term direction through the effective decisions you agree with your customers.
  • Understand user needs, gather feedback and continuously refine the Component Library to improve usability and satisfaction
  • Oversee the creation of Comprehensive documentation, guidelines and training materials to facilitate the adoption of the Component Library
  • Create and implement plans to ensure scalability of the Component Library to handle future growth and Tesco's evolving digital needs
  • Understand key user personas, customers & stakeholders across Tesco technology team and their pain points.
  • Accountable for the performance/adoption of the product and work towards achieving the Outcomes and Key Results (OKRs).
  • Prioritise work and decisively resolve trade-offs with peers and senior leaders.
  • Analyse & evaluate business requirements by liaising with the business team.
  • Steer planning sessions by working with the engineering counterparts to plan the work that will deliver maximum business value in least effort.
  • Drive the acceptance and adoption of ideas and improvements with product teams and engineering stakeholders.
  • Prioritise coordinate and communicate the resolution of live product issues independently.
  • Provide leadership and direction to team on short-term tasks/near-term priorities.
  • Be the subject matter expert and point of contact for the Native App Platform team.

You will need

  • Experience as a PaaS or SaaS Product Manager
  • Experience in managing Design System products and teams
  • Knowledge and understanding of Design System standards
  • Prior technical background and experience in software development.
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies, writing effective user stories/ acceptance criterions 
  • Understanding of User Research/ Design Thinking concepts
