You will be responsible for

Reporting to the Head of Healthy and Sustainable Diets you will be the primary contact person at Tesco for nutrition strategy and standards.

The key objectives of this role are to: 

  • Develop and lead Tesco strategic nutrition and reformulation strategy ​
  • Translate the strategy into a reformulation & product change programme that ladders up into our overall business commitments on Healthy & Sustainable Diets​
  • Leading cross functional work streams to develop and deliver the reformulation strategy​
  • Lead Tesco’s industry engagement on nutrition, healthy and sustainable diets​
  • Represent Tesco publicly in relevant industry forums and external meetings ​
  • Support the wider Tesco Healthy and Sustainable Diets agenda as needed (e.g. supplier and category plans, management of other NGOs and consultancies). ​
  • Identify new opportunities and innovations across the value chain
  • Own and develop the nutrition based information on Productpedia to ensure its relevant and up to date​
  • Developing & delivering policy & standards on health & nutrition for Tesco (Group)​
  • Developing and leading a successful team, giving them the opportunities to be their best​
  • Keep up to date with and supply accordingly to nutrition related regulation development impacting Tesco UK & Group
  • Following our Business Code of Conduct & always acting with integrity and due diligence 

You will need

Education and professional experience  

  • BSc. in Nutrition or similar degree
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in related industry or retail
  • Food product development or technical experience preferable
  • Registered with the Association for Nutrition or the BDA

  • Exceptional drive and passion for tackling Healthy & Sustainable Diets 

Technical requirements 

  • Up to date nutrition expertise and understanding best practice agenda
  • External / Third Party engagement and relationship management
  • Simple & effective translation of scientific data, legislation and reports
  • Understanding current government priorities for health
