About the role

I am accountable for writing user stories, creating backlogs and setting priorities. I will be an ambassador for colleagues and customers and demonstrate that I am able to collaborate and work effectively with my cross functional team.

 

This role is part of the Store Applications Product Team within Tesco Technology.

The role will understand the colleague experience, the user journeys & support the transition to future fit technology that our colleagues love to use yet work for the business.

The successful candidate will be an eager problem solver who is not afraid to challenge the status quo. The role will work closely with the Business and Technology Support teams (across the Tesco group), Engineers, UX, UI, Data Analytics, Data Science and our store colleagues to ensure all new technology meet our strategic goals.

Time will also be spent in store understanding the needs of our colleagues and getting feedback on our product development initiatives.

You will be responsible for

  • Will evolve and drive the product roadmap.
  • Will proactively partner with peers and stakeholders to set the direction of my product as part of the wider business strategy.
  • Understand key user personas, customers & stakeholders for the product and their pain points.
  • Am accountable for the performance/ adoption of the product and work towards achieving the Outcomes and Key Results (OKRs).
  • Prioritise work and resolve trade-offs.
  •  Effectively document and explain new requirements to the engineering team using user stories with acceptance criteria and help the team in breaking down complex work into smaller, deliverable chunks of value that can be delivered faster.
  • Steer sprint/ release planning sessions by working with the engineering counterparts to plan sprints/ releases that deliver maximum business value in least effort.
  • Prioritise coordinate and communicate the resolution of live product issues.
  • Support the development of the vision, strategy, road map and work with stakeholders to ensure complete alignment across Tesco.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Tesco group to build a picture of the colleague technology landscape.
  • Support discoveries into key business problems and take stakeholders on the journey from tactical to strategic solutions.
  • Map our problems and work to solve them in ways our customers love yet work for the business.
  • Continuously challenge solutions to ensure they deliver value.
  • Understand the pain points and problems of key user personas, customers & stakeholders.
  • Identify and capture user journeys and requirements within Aha, JIRA and Confluence.
  • Support the execution of Proof of Concepts (POCs) that follow the build, measure, learn cycle and ensure decisions are data driven.
  • Focus on delivering outcomes rather than outputs.
  • Prioritise, coordinate and communicate the resolution of live product issues.
  • Work within a team of experienced Product Managers who will help and support your development as well as have the opportunity to attend Product and Leadership events to support your career.
  • Follow our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence.

You will need

  • understand the value that the UX and UI disciplines bring to the products that I work on.
  • understand User Research/ Design Thinking concepts and applied those for your product work.
  • use the outputs from customer research sessions to influence my product roadmap.
  • know the different customers who use my product.
  • understand why experimentation is important to validate ideas and hypotheses.
  • understand the importance of a product vision and strategy and how they're used to align teams to collaborate and prioritise work around a shared outcome.
  • aware of the factors that influence and impact customer behaviour in this product area.
  • understand the concepts of machine learning, its benefits to Tesco and how it supports the development of new products.
  • know how to use relevant tools to produce and update roadmaps for my product.
  • understand the Product Management lifecycle, product delivery process and the importance of an Agile mindset to discover, design, define, develop and deliver small increments of the most important opportunities that will drive growth.
  • have knowledge and experience of product management best practice & methodologies.
  • knowledge in the use of Tools & Techniques for Backlog prioritisation, managing dependencies and for gaining insights using available data points.
  • have broad knowledge and understanding of the technologies relevant to product management.
  • have knowledge of software development methodologies and processes.
