About the role

You will champion secondary packaging within categories; own label suppliers, leading brands, & industry to deliver better packaging for our customers & colleagues, reducing cost for our businesses & lowering planetary impacts for all!

You will be responsible for

  • Implementing innovative secondary packaging solutions fit for the future, removing work hours and road miles where we can, reducing the time taken to replenish and optimising space through the end to end supply chain, filling the pallet, cage & shelf better as a result.
  • Delivering cost-out and efficiency improvements for category teams. Providing insight and support for inflation risks. Tracking end to end savings.
  • Working closely across functions, suppliers and our broad network to identify opportunities, plan and deliver improved packaging performance and data, focusing on sustainability, cost reduction and innovation.
  • Building well researched, realistic change plans with clear ownership and timescales to achieve the business packaging targets.
  • Engaging, motivating and mobilising people across business and industry, from director level downwards to formulate plans and build effective working relationships with stakeholders that enables positive change.
  • Leading natural work teams with functional experts from across the business and wider industry to deliver change.
  • Ensuring required Tesco packaging standards and quality documents are written, maintained and adhered to by all.
  • Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence.
  • Full adherence to GSCOP

You will need

Operational Skills:

  • Ability to deliver complex projects in line with an agreed critical path.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a broad group of stakeholders
  • Ability to engage and influence stakeholders effectively.
  • A broad business manager, able to communicate at senior leader level and present confidently to Directors and Senior Managers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Experience:

  • Technical packaging development
  • Secondary packaging
  • Packaging Buying and delivering cost out
  • Financial management and economic modeling
  • Cross functional transformation project delivery
  • Understanding of risk and risk assessment
  • Packaging industry experience
  • Materials Science Education (useful)
