Job Description

The Product Manager will drive delivery, working with APIs and devices at one of the world’s largest retailers. The Product Manager will be a domain expert at Tesco for customer cash payments in-store, traversing partner and team boundaries, managing trade-offs, and able to collaborative confidently with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Our Payment product development teams are responsible for payment experience and processing for all Tesco markets globally. Our products are helpful, efficient, safe, and rewarding. Our portfolio of payment products includes several types of cash devices and card payment readers in-store. Specifically, this job will be as a Product Manager for cash payment. We enable innovation as part of speed and impact. The Product manager will initiate product discovery and identify opportunities to deliver increments that are desirable for customers and colleagues, technically feasible, and viable for the Tesco business. They will be obsessive about the role of payments play in customers’ lives and how payments impact customers’ overall experience with Tesco. They will combine market, internal and customer perspectives, to create the insights, strategies and roadmaps that focus their team on the most important problems to solve for Tesco customers and colleagues. The Payment product development team are a cross functional Agile team of engineers, product managers and programme managers, based within Tesco Technology. 

Specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the business and the following provides an overview of the key responsibilities.

  • Will navigate ambiguity by leaning on strong product principles and organisational values to decisively prioritise work to resolves trade-offs with their peers and senior leaders.
  • Effectively documents and breaks down complex product requirements and acceptance criteria to enable their product development teams via stories and epics.
  • Steers planning and relevant agile ceremonies with their engineering counterparts to deliver value with optimal risk and effort.
  • Will independently co-ordinate live issues for their product.

Qualifications

  • Develop and execute product strategies, detailed gap analyses, and roadmaps for online grocery shopping applications.
  • Define and track KPIs and OKRs that ladder up to company level goals, to monitor and evaluate product success.
  • Manage and prioritize product backlog and features deliveries.
  • Work closely with teams, peers, and business owners to create epics and user stories to specify and document features for implementation.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers, engineers, marketers, and content managers to enhance user experience.
  • Define and oversee A/B testing and other experimentation and analytics methods to optimize product features and assure successful deployment.
  • Ensure timely delivery of product changes, updates, and features.
  • Manage the entire lifecycle from ideation to launch and post-launch initiatives evaluation.
  • Conduct/consume market research and analyze customer feedback to identify gaps and opportunities for product improvements.
  • Effectively document and explain new requirements using user stories, personas, and acceptance tests.
  • Collect and address customer feedback and user ratings.
  • Serve as an expert resource for all matters relating to IGHS.
  • Support teams in breaking down complex initiatives (epics) into smaller deliverable chunks of value that can be implemented faster.
  • Work closely with Engineering to plan sprints/releases that deliver maximum value with the least effort and resources.
  • Present future product and its functional/engineering capabilities, including demonstrating the platform existing and new features to stakeholders and other groups.
  • Drive acceptance and adoption of IGHS priorities with product, business, and engineering stakeholders.
  • Identify and timely address impediments and ensure that the right capabilities are delivered.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and data privacy standards.
  • Monitor, report, and timely escalate and resolve any bugs or issues on pre-prod and production environment.
