Job Description

As a Software Development Engineer III on the cyber software team; you will be a senior individual contributor; playing a key role in designing; developing; and deploying scalable cyber software solutions to strengthen our security defences. You will take ownership and accountability for software solutions; leading architectural decisions; guiding technical direction; and mentoring the engineering team to deliver high-quality cyber software products. These solutions will include both backend and frontend components; essential for integrating the cyber data platform with broader security applications.
Technical Leadership: Accountable for the design and development of cyber software solutions; leading technical initiatives across teams to drive the evolution of cyber software products. Oversee architecture across multiple teams and complex projects; providing strategic direction while mentoring and serving as a role model.
System Architecture: Design; build and management of resilient architectures that support threat detection; incident response and reporting through advanced analytics; machine learning and GenAI capabilities
Coding: Contribute to raising the quality bar of the team's codebase by producing high-quality code; conducting thorough peer reviews; and proactively providing constructive and useful feedback to other team members on their code
Mentorship: Inspire and mentor the cyber data team; fostering innovation and excellence and lead cross functional initiatives by maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure success.
In addition to the above core accountabilities; I am also responsible for;
- Contributing to and supporting the ongoing recruitment and talent development process for cyber software team
- The management of technical service providers and teams I work with inside and outside of Tesco
- Influence your team’s technical and business strategy

Qualifications

Proven experience in leading the teams to deliver resilient systems and providing technical guidance for optimal product solutions.
Solid understanding of programming language Java and proficiency in SQL and streaming services like Kafka and Flink
Strong knowledge of databases RDBMS and NoSQL.
Solid experience with architectural patterns including coding stands; code reviews; source code control and CI/CDs and implementing a range of design and architecture patterns
Experience with Microservices and SpringBoot frameworks
Solid working experience with cloud platforms such as Azure; as well as containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
Ability to provide clear input; guide; empower software developers to achieve desired outcomes
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices
