"You’ll need to be able to put your Tesco colleagues at the heart of everything you do – so they can go on and do the same for our customers"

You may know this function as Human Resources; at Tesco we call it People!

Our goal in People is clear – we want to create an environment where all our colleagues can be their very best at work, every day. We believe we can do this by:

  • Creating an inclusive culture where we listen and act on feedback
  • Building the right structures and processes
  • Making sure everyone has the opportunity to get on
  • Getting the basics right for our people so that they trust us to do a great job

We believe the best ideas seldom come from working alone or sitting at your desk! The only way to truly understand what matters to our colleagues is to put yourself in their shoes, whether that be spending time in store through to spending with the team designing our online strategy. We want people who are curious about getting under the skin of our business and people that care about building long lasting relationships that make a difference.

We have a huge range of roles in our team – you could be working at any of our Stores across the UK or working for one of our teams at our Head Office, in Welwyn Garden City. Wherever you are based there’s a lot to get involved in! The majority of roles available in People are business partner roles where you will be working with teams to lead business change, develop colleagues and create an environment where everyone can perform at their best every day.

We also have a number of specialist roles available. These include Reward & Benefits, Talent & Resourcing, Organisational Development, Employee Relations and Learning & Development.

We have some fantastic opportunities available. Depending on which role you join us in, you could be:

  • Partnering with our business leaders to deliver change in Store or in a Head Office teams
  • Taking insights and building actionable engagement plans with our leadership team
  • Designing or delivering new training to help our managers be the very best manager to their team
  • Designing reward schemes that drive the right behaviors and right results for the business

No matter what you are working on you will be able to clearly see how your role makes a difference to the success of our business

You'll need to be able to deliver an exceptional experience for our colleagues.

At Tesco we have five leadership skills – empathy, collaboration, innovation, resilience and responsiveness; regardless of the role that you do with us that you will need to role model these for our colleagues. You will also need strong values and beliefs.

Other relevant skills include

  • Understanding our customers
  • Ability to think/act commercially
  • Experience building credible relationships
  • Working across teams
  • Working with senior management and leadership teams
  • Strong coaching and communication skills.
  • Good understanding of employment law.
