Salary Range: Optometrist: £30,000–£53,550 (depending on experience) / Opticians Manager: £23,000–£29,091 (depending on experience)

Our opticians business is a great example of the way we’re making what matters better for our customers. It’s expanding fast, so we’re looking for people with the right skills and values to join us at our new, state-of-the-art opticians branches, in one of two roles.


You’ll put your qualifications to work, using the latest technologies to carry out eye examinations in line with College of Optometrists and General Optical Council (GOC) guidelines. You’ll work as part of the opticians team to help our customers find the glasses or contact lenses that are right for them, giving all the expertise and support they need.

Opticians Manager

You’ll lead the team at your branch, creating a culture focused on helping customers make the right choice. It’ll be down to you to:

• Provide regular training and coaching for your opticians colleagues
• Achieve sales growth by effectively managing costs and people
• Schedule your colleagues’ working hours, including locums
• Take steps to make eye examinations more available and accessible
• Make sure your branch meets regulatory requirements

In both roles you’ll be someone who puts people at the heart of everything you do:

As an Opticians Manager you’ll be someone who can:

As an Optometrist you’ll be qualified, registered and able to respond to a range of tasks:
• Checking that equipment is maintained and documents are completed
• Managing GOS claims
• Complying with GOC regulations
• Keeping ahead on changes in the industry
• Supporting the Opticians Manager, taking responsibility when they’re away

In both roles you’ll be face-to-face with our customers and working closely with colleagues as part of a team, using the latest equipment.

As an Opticians Manager you’ll have all eyes on you to make sure your team is fired up and focused on our customers.

To apply for an Optometrist role you’ll need to be a qualified Optometrist, registered with the GOC.

For an Opticians Manager role you’ll need previous optical management experience.

For both roles you’ll also need to meet government requirements for working with vulnerable groups, including an Enhanced Criminal Records check by the Disclosure and Barring Service, or Disclosure Scotland for roles based in Scotland.
