  • Various shift patterns available, including evenings and weekends to enable a great work life balance.
  • Excellent training, development and career progression

Providing an excellent home shopping experience by putting our customers at the heart of everything we do, is our main responsibility.

On the customers doorstep you’ll:

  • Take care of your customer’s deliveries as if they were your own
  • Show you care by going at your customer's pace and taking time to listen
  • Build trust with your customers by using your common sense to find solutions when challenges arise

Preparations before you leave the store or centre

  • Load the van where required, and check your van for roadworthiness
  • Understand the schedule and route that has been calculated for you
  • Make sure you look the part, being smartly presented and ready to serve our customers
  • Keep your tools, equipment and van safe and clean
  • Contribute to making Tesco a Great Place to Work, helping to create a team spirit

On the road you’ll represent Tesco so:

  • Drive safely, responsibly and within the law
  • Be courteous to all road users
  • Be considerate to the property of Tesco and others

The role is ‘hands on’, physical, and full of variety. No two shifts are ever the same – customers look for help in all kinds of different ways.

For most of your day you’ll feel like your own boss, delivering to your customers on your own, but with a team of managers and colleagues back at base ready to support you when you need them.

Here is what current Customer Delivery Drivers say about the job:

“I really enjoy the team spirit at my centre. When I start my shift we always have a laugh together and it sets me up for the day”

“I love being able to make customers happy in this job. It is a great responsibility to be on the road with their groceries”

“I really like the way I can use a bit of common sense to help my customers understand their order”

Whether it is on the road or in someone’s home you are always safe, friendly and helpful. You will:

  • Treat customers’ shopping as if it were your own
  • Be able to look the part and make the right first impression
  • Be personable with a good sense of humour and excellent communication skills
  • Care about making a difference to customers and colleagues
  • Enjoy the freedom of working under your own steam to a planned schedule
  • Be able to stay calm and positive
  • Be able to take the initiative and use common sense
  • Be willing to work on a shift pattern, which may include evenings and weekends
  • Be willing to undertake other activities in the store / centre as required
  • Be able and willing to carry out physical work such as carrying shopping up flights of stairs

If this role ticks all your boxes, we can’t wait to hear from you….

Before you search and apply please check that you have the following to hand and up to date:

  • Full UK / EU / EEA driving licence with no more than three penalty points that you have held for at least 12 months
  • Right to work in the UK – including National Insurance number and passport or national identity card (see website for full details)

Unfortunately if you have been disqualified from driving within the last 5 years, for legal reasons we will not be able to accept your application for this role.

When you select the job you would like to apply, you will be directed to complete an online questionnaire. Successful completion will lead an interview and the final stage is a Driving Assessment. This is not a driving test – it is our way of checking that our candidates are able to drive our vans to a good standard

We are really looking forward to meeting you and are here to help you every step of the way.
